Volunteer Spotlight: Scott Garfinkel

June 3, 2020

In 2019, over 480 individual volunteers donated their time and talents to RMHC of Central and Northern Arizona. One of those dedicated volunteers was Scott Garfinkel. As the Vice President of Claire’s Stores in the southwest, Scott has been volunteering his time to the organization every other Saturday for over two years.

From deep cleaning the kitchen to restocking the pantry, he knows that his time is helping provide a place of comfort for families while they seek medical care for their children. “RMHC is a great cause and you can make an impact on someone’s day every time you are at the House,” Scott shared. “There is a feeling of community and everyone that you came in contact with is very grateful.”

Scott has also shared his service spirit with his family by participating in the Dinnertime Heroes program where they made homemade meatloaf and mashed potatoes. “I was blown away by how thankful and appreciative every single person was, from the single mom with three kids to the grandparents just getting back from the hospital,” he reflected. “It was a very meaningful experience for my entire family, and it makes you realize how lucky you really are in this life.”

We are so grateful for Scott and the many other generous volunteers who make our mission possible. While our volunteer program is on hold, we remember the kindness and service that our amazing volunteers have provided us. We can’t wait to welcome them back to “the House that Love Built.”
