09 May Sun City West’s Sewing from the Heart Makes Donation
Jan. 29, 2024
Sewing from the Heart dressed up Ronald McDonald with a hat, sewn fleece blanket and crocheted toys before these items and others were donated to the Central and Northern Arizona Ronald McDonald House Charities.
Sewing from the Heart, part of Rip ’N’ Sew in Sun City West, focuses on making items for children, and the Ronald McDonald House Charities focus on housing for families whose ill children need medical treatment away from home. Sewing from the Heart’s donation will go to the children whose families are housed at any of the several residences in the Phoenix metro area.
Marsha Smith and Marian Clish, who head Sewing from the Heart, said the group donated 30 knitted hats, five tied fleece blankets, 15 sewn fleece blankets, 25 sewn and crocheted animals, six vests and five bags for walkers. The two women made the crocheted the toys.
Rip ’N’ Sew’s charitable work could not be done without the public’s help. Smith and Clish said Sewing from the Heart would welcome donations of yarn plus flannel and fleece fabric. To make such donations, call Rip ’N’ Sew at 623-546-4050.
