Describe Ronald McDonald House® in one word:
Rest

What is your role at Ronald McDonald House?
I work to get authorization from multiple state Medicaid plans and bill eligible stays on a monthly basis. This helps to offset the costs for some families staying at the houses.

When COVID-19 hit, we had to make adjustments in the way we were able to care for families. Through a generous grant and donations we received, we were able to partner with Staybridge Suites in Phoenix and Holiday Inn in Mesa to continue providing lodging for families while their children received care at local hospitals. In 2020 we were able to provide over 460 nights of rest! I feel very fortunate to be able to manage this program during this difficult time.

What do you love most about working at the House?
The team of people that I work with all focused on the same mission.

Tell us about your background. What led you to your current position?
I have always worked in the medical field in some capacity, and I enjoy the daily challenges of working to make sure we have the funds we need to care for our families.

What is the hardest part of your job?
I’m grateful we’re able to partner with local hotels, but that’s really expensive. The best solution would be to have the money we need to expand and update our Houses so we can keep every family who comes to us in one of our homes.
