Kerry’s Corner: Spring 2021 Newsletter

This past year has forced all of us to relearn things we thought we knew. For Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Northern and Central Arizona, it was no exception.

Amidst the chaos of COVID-19, we had to cancel popular annual events like our golf tournament and gala and change the way we served families to keep them safe during a global pandemic. I have felt blessed to be part of this community, as friends and supporters old and new stepped up, even amid such hardship. The pandemic has really shown us how we’re all connected.

Through it all, one thing remained clear: No matter what’s happening in the world, kids still get sick, injured and need treatment. And families still need us.

From adoptive families like Evangeline’s . . . to mothers experiencing high-risk pregnancies . . . from families devastated by a scary diagnosis . . . to kids and parents driving hours to access ongoing medical treatment. Families need a safe and nurturing place to rest as they face some of the toughest challenges of their lives.

This year, we’ve discovered new resilience, creativity and determination to ensure that no matter what, our House is here to welcome them.

As I look toward the summer, I feel an overwhelming sense of hope and gratitude. I know the last twelve months have been tough. Thank you for all you do to show our families kindness and warmth when they need it most. We really are in this together, and we couldn’t do it without you.

With gratitude,

Kerry Schulman
