Close to Her Heart: Keeping Baby Jessica’s Family Together

Godsway Dorlah and Jacinta Frimprong’s lives changed in an instant when they learned their unborn daughter, Jessica, would need life-saving open-heart surgery as soon as she was born. As one surgery became multiple surgeries, and Baby Jessica’s hospital stay spanned seven full months, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central and Northern Arizona (RMHCCNAZ) provided support, hope, consistency and a place for the family to stay.

“We both work, but we don’t make that much to be able to live in an Airbnb for seven months,” said Godsway. “So, without the House, I don’t know how we would have been able to manage it.”

Jacinta and Godsway spent nearly every waking moment at the hospital, returning to Ronald McDonald House to sleep and recharge. Altogether they have stayed at the House four different times for a total of 254 nights.

“It literally is a family away from home,” said Jacinta. “I believe that RMHC being here really blessed us in a great way.”
